Looking at you looking at me with Rebecca Strain
A presentation by Rebecca Strain and Martha McCulloch on their recent body of work, as performance artist and photography artist based at Fort Dunree followed by a discussion about the relationship between photography and performance art over tea and scones.
Since 2023 Rebecca and Martha have been working on a project to develop a body of work that interrogates the relationship between live performance & image making. It is place-based art making outdoors that presents the reality of a rural, coastal practice.
This project they have been working on is a significant body of work that they feel will create opportunities for conversations around how we see our natural resources, the effects of tourism, the impact of artists occupation of spaces and the relationship between performance, photography and text.

Under the feet of shadows
Under the Feet of Shadows is a multimedia artwork developed by EL Putnam and Mike McCormack that creatively explores human-technological relations, speculating other futures in these times of extreme change and crisis. It tells a fictional origin myth of a data center in Kilalla, Ireland, where the cyborg Terra is called upon to negotiate between the spiritus of technology, the environment, and human society as an entangled ecology. The work merges science fiction with folklore, imagined and actual mythologies with histories of technology in Ireland.
This exhibition kindly supported by The Arts Council of Ireland, MART Gallery, and CIACLA Contemporary Irish Arts Center Los Angeles where an iteration of the exhibition will be exhibited in 2025.
Where are you now, Oisín? | Wioletta Ratajczak
Where are you now, Oisín? is inspired by a Celtic myth telling the story of the tragic character Oisín and his return to Ireland from the Land of Youth after three hundred years. According to the Fenian cycle, the place where Oisín fell from his magic horse was located at the Glenasmole Valley. Wioletta's performance is based on research on the phenomena of 'culture shock' when moving abroad and 're-entry culture shock' experienced by many immigrants returning home after living in the other country. She intends to re-tell the story of Oisín's from the perspective of a person experiencing a subtle exclusion in both Polish and Irish cultures, in which she has been living for many years.
